九十年代初新发展的超大孔分子筛ＭＣＭ－４１，它的孔径远远超过目前小于１．２ｍｍ的微孔分子筛如Ｘ，Ｙ，，丝光沸石和ＺＳＭ－５沸石。由于它的均匀大孔结构和较好的酸性可以应用于重油加工和大分子 细化工反应，是当前国内外沸石研究热点课题。
